A Proper Introduction

Welcome to one of many baking blogs out there! I, in no way, ever claim to be a professional. Hell, half the time I’m just experimenting with flavours, tastes and decorations but then again, aren’t we all?

Q & A

Q: What are you all about?
A: I bake. Sometimes for money. Sometimes for gratitude. Most of the time for compliments.

Q: Where did you come up with the name Sweet Me Up? Is it a play on a nickname? Is it from a song? I mean, what’s the deal? Are you suggesting something?
A: Yes.

Q: What do you specialize in?
A: I started out with cookies. I somehow got it in me to bake a different type of cookie each month… then it turned into a weekly thing. I eventually took to baking cakes/cupcakes for birthdays at work. Little fact about me: in my youth, I used to paint and draw portraits (in fact, I was a bit of an art snob) but I slowly let go of that dream and nearly forgot about my artistic ability until I started baking. Each cake now becomes a new canvas… except you can eat it and wash it down with a cold glass of milk!

Q: How did you get started?
A: Without going too much into detail (I’ll save that for my other blog), would you believe a break-up? I would bake when unhappy. But that quickly changed when I saw the happiness my baking brought to others. It’s what fuels me now.

Cue it… “Awwww!”
